still decent people about

Went for a run round my park (gunnesbury park off the north circular) got back to the car ,keys no longer in my pocket.
I was now in hell.
40 minutes of combing the grass ,this fella shouts "are you looking for keys".He was a council contractor ,found them nowhere near where I was looking ,then trawled the park himself wondering whose they were and saw me mooching around.
I was now in heaven.
So happy kissed the bloke on his shaven head!! Life was now WONDERFULL.

Hope you got his name and the name of his boss so that you can write a few lines in a letter to the boss expressing your gratitude. Though it sounds like you were so relieved that you forgot about that bit.

I did ,but it was too late.Wanted to give the guy a "drink",had no money on me.Will have to sort out the "key ,shorts "connection" though. That is a big park ,very very ,lucky.
Nice to hear someone going out of the way to resolve a potential nightmare situation! Sending a letter of thanks to his dept. Would be a nice jesture.
With regard to not letting it happen again - I used to tie my keys to the pull string thing on my joggers and put them back in my pocket. Or just get used to running with keys in hand (anti iPod jacker tool too!)

There are far more decent people around than the other sort.
A few years ago I dropped my wallet in Aldershot (of all places). I hadn't realised I'd lost the wallet until I had a phone call from Aldershot Police Station telling me a wallet had been handed in and did I want to claim it.

in asda today and a elderly woman walking infront of me was rooting around in her handbag. she dropped a £20 note and i picked it up,tapped her on the shoulder and handed it back before making a light-hearted comment that she should be careful as someone might have just taken it and she should be glad that im too honest for my own good (haha). Not even a thank you from the old biddy!! Just a 'oh I didnt even realise' and a snatch to take it back with a dirty look!!

I find this aswell. Ok theyve had a tough life being through wars etc (obviously im talking about the VERY old, that was the lady in asda) but there is no need not to say thank you when someone does a good deed. I couldve pocketed her £20, but i was a good samaritan and gave it to her.Ive experianced a few elderly folk with a bee up their arse!! I hate that they think its compulsary to hold the door open for them without being thanked for doing so!! Manners cost nothing...or are they still rationing things nowa days

I think they often expect the worst from the "younger" people. But in the main I find them delightful, if you stop and open the door for them etc I usually get a thanks. The exception being when on the roads, where I am not sure they notice...
older people are often a little confused when confronted with an unusual situation (someone thrusting a £20 at them counts as such) so will not immediately think to thank you but will think of it once you've rushed off to do something else....bear in mind also that they may well be a bit deaf and blind.

I found a Blackberry last year on the floor in a hotel. I handed it. Does this make me a nice person?
No, just a mug

With regards to the OP, I often lace my keys onto the front of my shoes, works nicely and there's little chance of them coming off without you noticing
