Alastair Campbell is Twittering that at the Labour/NHS love-in today, they'll be producing a mega star to back their campaign.

Apparently someone so iconic that John Lennon looked up to this person and who will make Gary Barlow "look like a pygmy"......

Blimey.... I wonder who? Any suggestions??

If John Lennon looked up to them then it's got to be someone who is now getting on a bit, possibly a bit of senility creeping in which could explain why they are going to come out publicly supporting Labour.

Well it won't be Jesus he looked up to, as he said the Beatles were bigger than Jesus.

It'll be someone comfortably rich who doesn't have to worry about the mess Labour have created. A rich idealist.

I bet its Yoko, Lennon probably looked up her a fair few times in his day.

It'll be blair

ETA: Cambpell is claiming this person was John Lennon's hero. And that there's a clue in his current blog. So probably not blair after all...

ETA2: Here's the clue:

I feel a bit bad by tweeting last night that one of my biggest heroes would be coming out for Labour at our health rally today, and that he made Gary Barlow look like small fry. It sparked dozens of guesses as to who it was, and now apparently it is the subjct of phone-in speculation on Five Live. I so hope you won't be disappointed....

I gave one clue on twitter last night, namely that he was also John Lennon's hero. I will give another now. Regular visitors here and to my vlog may recall that I have met him at a campaign event in the past. Now sit back and enjoy the show.

Thinking about this some more... Lennon wrote working class hero... is he saying some working class will turn up?

Doesn't seem likely to me. Labour is no longer the party of the working man...

Later picked up by the media.
Brown comes on as an Elvis impersonator sings "When no one else can understand you, when everything I do is wrong."
So in the last few days we've had:
  • "I'm not respnsible for the lies in the leaflets " - does that include your own leaflt, Gordon?
  • The poster so offensive it was pulled before it's official launch.
  • "A hundred coaches on their way to Madrid"
  • And now an Elvis impersonator singing a song where the title sounded goof but no one had the sense to check the lyrics. Oh, and an actress who was in Casualty, a long, long time ago.
Is this the worst election campaign ever? It makes Major '97 look almost professional.
