Hi all,

a friend of mine is still within the first two years of obtaining his full driving license. He was unfortunate enough to get a speeding conviction for which the court imposed 6 penalty points and a fine. Having reached 6 points he was immediately subject to license revocation until test passed again. Well he passed the test fine and now has received another NIP for XS speed 39 in a 30mph limit, mobile camera snap.

Could someone confirm what i think to be correct here?

1. The 6 points, fine and revocation imposed for the first offence now amount to points on the license under totting up.

2. A further 3 points will amount to nothing more than a total of 9 points and obviously the fine etc and there will be no revocation of license this time around as he has exceeded the 6 point limit within the first two years of holding a full license.

I appreciate this is posted in the wrong forum, but as i'm new to this forum i can't post in Plod etc....

Cheers in advance for any assistance

Provided he only gets 3 points he will keep his license.

He probably shouldn't as he is a total idiot. Instead of keeping his nose clean he has now got 9 points and a loss of license on his insurance history. Hope he likes slow cars.

It was an attempt at ironic humour....

I left PH forums years ago after having been a contributor for ages..... glad to see it is still populated by people who have nothing better to do than jump all over someone they consider to be at fault/vulnerable etc etc.

Please move along now if you have no intelligent, constructive comments to make.

Looks like he shouldn't be driving to be perfectly honest !

I'd imagine, if he got another 6 points he'd have his licence taken away and a ban on top not that it'd matter as he'd have no licence. As the above posters said, I'd wait till someone more informed knows.

Actually this is Sussex - last bastion of speed offence total fabrication and lack of discretion, and he is unfortunate since he drives for a living. His first offence was a late night stop by a single manned traffic unit. He was pulled over because of the "type of car" and "apparent age". One unfortunate bit of answering back resulted in a spontaneous change from advice to "you're now off to court for 52 in a 30mph".

I was a Police Officer in Sussex for 17 years and know of the Traffic Officer that stopped him. No names no pack drill, but she is the Sussex equivalent of the infamous Hampshire Traffic guy who used to operate from Fareham Traffic Base and victimise drivers on the M27....

shouldn't one always be "now off to court for 52 in a 30mph"? or am I naive?

Well there's the nub of the whole issue - 52 mph, no Vascar evidence, no photographic evidence, merely the "word" of the officer in question, who brought to bear all her "experience" in trying to get a young driver banned because he happened to profer a witty quip in response to her opening gambit referring to all young drivers as "assholes" and some less polite Chaucerian language.

I wouldn't have bothered to mention the circumstances if he had of been guilty of 52 in a 30....

The best advice you could give him would be to take the hint and give up on driving.

Sounds like he really doesn't have a clue.....

Another person who refuses to read the post content, but then feels sufficiently qualified to make an (uneducated) comment.

As i said before, it's a shame some PH posters have failed to evolve mentally and emotionally past unicellular organisms since i last visited these forums.

Any trolls thinking of posting on here please don't, please move along....
