By how much did it not fit? They do sometimes need swearing at.

Obviously the mechanic was far too polite then. If in doubt-give it a clout.

Join the club! been attempting the same thing today, this on top of my manifolds that would not fit is the icing on the cake! Mines going back for alterations again, the manifolds went back twice and in the end I gave up, brought some pipe and finished the job myself.Much better I might add than originally supplied. No squashing of the offside manifold pipe required!

To be fair the supplier has tried to help a lot but apparantly the manufacturer had never seen a Wedge with my manifolds and silencer before.I did send the old ones for a pattern! On the plust side, changed the gearbox remote bushes and mountings, made a massive difference. The gearbox used to wobble to the touch on the marshmellow mounts but its solid as a rock with the new ones on.

I just hope this isn't the beginning of a 'saga'.

Best of luck with yours anyway. smile

So I take it you can't recommend this supplier then?

The manifold joints have to be right or else it'll end up leaking at the worst place. You shouldn't chop the manifolds either or else you'll have to do the same the next time too...

Usually you can take up almost half an inch forward or backward and about the same side-side, with judicious choice of olives and a bit of levering. Once the thing goes through a few heat cycles the pipes bed into shape.

What about the rear pipe - or didn't they get that far if the centre box didn't fit?

I certainly don't want to shell out £250 for a pipe that won't fit, I may as well make my own...

Hi Adam. smile

It was at least an inch out, and couldn't link up without fouling the chassis anyway...small pipe just put on the box at the wrong angle. Rest of the system was fine.

There is a lot of truth in what you say.

I once made my own exhaust up for a special I'd built, by raiding the Kwik-Fit parts bin (which was next door to where I worked at the time) and a couple of flexi-pipes. Fitted fine and cost 'normal' money, but mild steel of course.
