I have done a clutch in about 40K before.
It was on an 04 plate 2ltr Diesel Corrolla, and to be fair the clutch was never good from new.
Current new civic is on 45K and clutch is still A-OK.
Depends on car, quality of clutch and use really.

Wife's first corolla petrol did 32K & a clutch with a gearbox rebuild at 40K & the second a diesel did 40K with a clutch & a gearbox rebuild, mind you I thank god these are company motors so I don't carry the bills any more. Hit the owners clubs for some bargain parts chap. You might even find someone to help you change the clutch. Could turn a huge bill into a not so huge bill.
As for pug clutches well my dads failed on his 307 in 12k. First clutch he's ever had fail in 200 years of driving so not driver error. Pugs are unfortunately still flying the flag for s
