Oh that's just fkn brilliant. Car was filthy, it wasn't raining so out with the buckets and sponges, generous half bottle of good shampoo (even taking extra time to clean all the little nooks n crannies of trim), then gone over with some of that waterless car wash wax stuff (rather than chamois). Thought I was doing great, applying due care and attention to the best of one's ability....

.... then the OH shouts down the stairs that fkn volcano's ash has been eating into the bodywork for the last 2wks so the acid erosion means I'll soon be driving around on the bare chassis wearing feckn Red Baron fighter pilot goggles. Oh bks.

Of course, the OH did get this info from the Daily Wail website today so I'm hoping that it's just pish. Maybe someone is bringing out a range of special "Volcanic Valet" products, the fleecing bandits. mad

It's the Daily Mail, of course it's a load of over exaggerated media hype.

I also read this article in the Daily Mail and immediately rushed out and coated my car in bleach to counteract the acidic properties of the ash. I'd urge all rational, middle class homeopathic medicine loving PHers to do the same. And to fight the gay agenda being pushed on our children.

To be fair, a couple of bits of bodywork did feel a little grainy but I assumed that was just some of that saharan sand that usually blows over at this time of year. Seems to be everywhere.

I should have washed the OH's car first to check. laugh

Were there any tips on how to clean out lungs? Won't somebody please think of the children?

Couple of drops of menthol oil into a bowl of hot water. Put a towel over your head and breathe in. Instantly cures you of the old Icelandic lung.

Our third car has been sat outside looking sorry for itself due to us both needing our daily cars.
On close inspetion today the car was coated in coarse dust - this may be partly due to vehicles passing on the road in front of the house, but it seems to be dirtier than normal irked
Anyway a good soaking, wash and polish later the paint is still on the car and it looks better than ever! Daily Mail talk out of their arses!

my car was covered in lava this morning. Just wiped it off, paint is a bit dull where it was. Can I sue the Icelandiers?
