Conleth, that looks like nobles version of an anti roll bar to me which they never fitted to anything other than the m400 apparentley.
I'm sure as long as it's not slapping into anything or it can be strapped from doing so it would be quite safe to drive to jnm.
Be well worth getting the other side checked at the same time looking at The state of that one

What Funkster said - it looks like the sway bar to me. I'd suggest removing the endlink, the part with the rubber boot that you can see in the last picture at the top of the part that broke off. Remove it at the bottom, where it attaches to the control arm. That way, it can't pivot down and jam on anything. It should just unscrew from the control arm, but given how rusty it looks, you probably need to douse it with penetrating oil, then use a pair of vise-grips or large pliers to get it loose. If it refuses to unscrew, maybe you can fold it up against the control arm and tape or wire it all up, so it doesn't flop around and hit anything.
Other than the danger of the endlink flopping about, you shouldn't have any problems driving the car to the shop...

You could just remove the whole anti-roll bar assembly and get it fixed or a new one made, it's only held on by a few small bolts and the tie rods.
That way you can drive it safely while it's being fixed.
Of course you could just enjoy the car without the anti-roll bar fitted, IMO it really only works on track and you will probably be pleasantly surprised at how well the car handles on road without.

Same thing has just happened to me on the way back from FOS. Rattling noise from front and saw the
same thing, identical fracture point. Just taped it to the wishbone for the rest of the journey.
It looks like they have been too ambitious in saving weight (how much) with all the holes but is the main cause that the bushes get tight?
Conleth, what did you do in the end?
