So, at a planning meeting in the FCO in advance of the Pope's visit, They discussed and wrote down options such as opening abortion clinics and selling condoms.

BBC

I have a nagging doubt that had other faiths been ridiculed in this way then someone somewhere would have already had their head hacked off.

Can you imagine if Hindus were asked to open a cattle farm, Jews open a Hitler exhibition or muslims open a pig breeding centre.

Moved to other duties indeed.

Hindus refusing to open a cattle farm harm no one, Jews refusing to run a Hitler Museum harms no one, Muslims refusing to breed pigs harm no one.

Catholics do incredible damage with their fairy tails and disgusting lies they tell about Abortion, Condom use and homosexuality.

Yes but when you look past your anti catholic agenda can you not agree it is at least as offensive to catholics as it would be to the other faiths to do what I mentioned?

Anti Catholic agenda? What rubbish is this you spout. Back that up please.

No it is not equally offensive at all. The Catholic Church are doing rediculous amounts of harm in what they do, to suggest otherwise is rediculous. Telling the Church to do what most educated people have come to realise as much needed reforms to turn the Catholic Church into a force for good is no where near as offensive as telling a different group of people to do something which will not prevent any harm and serve no purpose.

You are mixing up the fact the FCO should treat all people and religions equally with your assertion that catholics are evil. you may have a case that all catholics are evil but the FCO should not treat the different faiths according to the fashion of the day, they should all get equal contempt or equal respect.

To put it simply the FCO would never have gotten away with doing this to Islam.

You can't see the difference between legitimate criticism of a Religion backed up by science and evidence vs petty offensive made up requests.

The FCO has not made said petty offensive made up requests, they made legitimate points in jest, something which they have not gotten away with and something which could be said for all religions.

Sorry which religion is backed up by science and evidence, seriously tell me which one it is.

The FCO did not make legitimate points in jest, they said the head of the catholic church, the head of the independant country of the vatican could open an abortion clinic, it is an absolute disgrace and an embarressment to our nation, on the line of or worse than the DVDs from obama

By the way I worked for the FCO between 1996 and 2000 and I can assure you they don't do jest.

"I believe that someone was seriously suggesting Benedict condoms, inviting the Pope to open an abortion clinic and bless a gay marriage, I know this for I worked in the same place 10 years ago and no one ever joked ever, nothing has ever changed" - An idiot, 2010.

When foreign dignataries come over it isn't all fine dining and shaking hands. When else will they get the chance to openly discuss things. Yes they also discuss things with other religious leaders.

Are you counting yourself amongst these 'educated people'? your education didn't run to learning to spell ridiculous.

How would embarrassing a visiting dignitary "turn the Catholic Church into a force for good"?

The reforms that I have pointed out would be a start. Also how pathetic that you point out spelling errors, I presume due to a lack of an argument.

Sure it's open season on religion so long as it is just Christian.

It's the incredible self-rightenousness and mocking of these secular-liberal activists, especially the 'gay rights' ones. They are almost fanatics.

They don't have the balls to go after Islam even though Islam way worse that Catholicism in a sense.

For example the Taliban rolled boulders onto gays (crushed them to death)...the Pope criticises gay marriage. It's just ludicrous.

So the Catholic Church does no good whatsoever, that it's all about causing overpopulation and misery? I'm not a practising Catholic and I am aware of quite a few of the issues surrounding the Church, but your vitriol and generalisation seems to betray a bigoted prejudice that would far outweigh the dogmatic zeal of a devout Catholic. By all means criticise the Church for its failings but perhaps have a think about what good it is capable of - and remember it is made up of humans, just like any other "force for good" - even the Labour Party thinks it's a "force for good" and they've surpassed any meaning of the word ridiculous in just 13 years (or spelling for that matter).

Science and religion are two different things, you can't use science to refute belief in god.

What gets me is some (supposedly) very clever aetheist activists don't get this. They are idiots of science.
