Hi PH massive

i am thinking of selling my d50 kit (body, various lenses and so on), i wont bother you with details as this is not ebay. but i have a chance of a canon power shot g10 fairy cheap.

now i still want a decent camera (the slr is just to much kit to carry around nowdays)

any one have a g10 tell me if there any good i do like macro photography but not enought to keep carring a tripod slr and macro lens everywhere

thanks

G10 is OK, ISO 400 and below I think, lens is Ok but not a massive zoom or very fast.

I had a G10 and sold it. Quality was OK, but it was still a compact with all the small-sensor limitations that brings, especially at higher ISO levels. As well as that, it was big enough that I might as well have taken an SLR as the G10 still doesn't fit in a pocket anyway.

Is the G10 really that much smaller than a D50 with a kit lens attached?

I have a D100 for sale. IMHO it has better colors, but is older. Only selling to buy myself Sony as I've been a Minolta user before Nikon.

G10 ? that thing definetely is no better than D50 unless you need something very compact.

hi

had a bit of a play with the G10 to be honest i get better results from the d50 with 60mm macro on

every shot i found the G10 to be very grainy (could just be my photography skills)

so im gonna stick with the old trusty for a bit

thanks anyway peeps

Good idea. A compact can't replace a DSLR (whatever the marketing people like to tell you).
