quick oil question

I Notice my oil was a bit low so I asked my sister otherhalf to top it up for me, and i just reasiled that he topped up with 5w40 when i had 5w30 in befor.
so i just wondering if it would be a problem or not.
( its a 07 grande punto with about 60k on clock and i got it booked in for a new oil change on friday)

It won't be a problem at all, especially since you are having the oil changed very soon. On most cars it wouldn't really make any difference even if the new oil was left there for months, just over the life of a car if the owner wanted tip top condition for many many miles then topping up with a different type MIGHT cause slightly more wear in the engine if done a lot.
