V Quick:
Check Tyres, as not cheap, check door seals are ok, if splt not cheap. The ealier cars had an engine recall, make sure it has evidence that this was done. The diff bushes can wear, and this causes anoying knocking under the rear of the car.

Just the usual, make sure when buying one its not due a service, brakes, etc as it will add up, and cost a packet.

what sort of millages would you look at when buying and is 11k abit cheap for a m3.i was going to spend 15 but if i dont have to then why not try and save abit of cash.i reckon a rac check seems like the best idea.

Have a look at a few, you will know when you see a good 'un.

Some will still have a BMW warranty, worth paying the extra.

My car is for sale (not currently advertised), & has just had the BMW warranty extended & paid for for another year.

Email me through profile if interested.

Spend what you can afford as it will buy you more a more recent, and/or lower mileage example. I had an RAC check done on mine. Was ok, but didn't spot some bits that needed attention at it's first service shortly after I bought it.

You could probably get the local bmw dealership to do a pre purchase inspection. Probably cost a couple of hours labour. Try not to read too much on the internet, everybody will moan when they have a problem, but never say about miles and miles of faultless service.

What are your requirements? I will probably sell mine soon and it has had all the problems and recalls sorted (even had the boot floor replaced by bmw due the subframe issue).
