Can anyone please recommend a reliable paint repair technician in the West Midlands area. I slipped while placing a kayak on the roof bars of my CLS and there are now 3 small through to metal chips and a couple of lacquer scratches on the edge of the roof. They don't add up to more than a few mm2, and I have touched them in to prevent rust, but they're right above the driver's door and annoy the hell out of me - I look after cars and this just shouts "clumsy oaf" at me.

Many thanks

Perfect on a roof requires a full panel respray.
You can't do a SMART repair on most roofs, bonnets or bootlids as the edge of the new lacquer is usually visible.

Thanks - I did see on a website they couldn't do roofs - this is actually on the cant rail (I think that's what it's called) which is immediately above the door openings, separated from the roof proper by a plastic moulding; this panel is actually continuous with the rear wing, just to make matters worse re blending etc.

ChipsAway in Wolverhampton have full spraybooth facilities, and can sort roof-level problems for you, or repairs requiring a full panel paint (or clearcoat). I know the owner well, and while he doesn't paint himself, he only employs qualified ex-bodyshop painters in his shops.

Usual disclaimer - I have no direct connection with his business, but he is a personal friend and we are part of the same franchised network.

Cheers - I was hoping to have the chips painted rather than a larger area, but it seems it may be unavoidable, so I'll give him a call.

Thanks again.
