Ok so my Crankshaft on my 996 failed. Lot of cutting off when i rev. Do i really need a whole new engine? Cant help but feel they're taking the mick out of me because i'm a girl!!! Perhaps not. Any comments or similar experiences anyone? Any help appreciated

it depends on the true problem, crank failure is the term i'd use if it snapped in half.

If the crankshaft had failed, the engine would not run. The bearings could have failed, a sensor or who knows what.

I would get a second opinion

Sometimes it wil start normally and then cut off after about 10 minutes and then at other times (probably half) it wont even start at all. Not broken in half though!!!!

Take it to someone like GT1 in Chertsey or Parr down west sussex way.

that does sound more like the crankshaft position sensor is a little screwed up

If you're on the west side of London, I can recommend Andy at Ninex Motorsport in Maidenhead. They're a Porsche specialist but they look after my Caterham and always do a good job.

try gt marques at high wycombe, specialise in race and road cars. good luck, from what youve said, doesnt sound anything major, poss straight forward crank shaft sensor as mentioned before.
