Hi All, I am in the process of researching the Seven options available in SA, the best bet although expensive is the Birkin S3. They give the option of using a Subaru diff rather than the default Ford option. Have any of you used a Subaru diff in a Seven or related Kit Car, and if so is it worth the extra cost over a Ford option? It runs as about 30% extra for the Transmision & rear drive train componants.

Birkin detials can be found at www.birkindirect.com

Wyn Edwards is using one on his hillclimber:

If I were using a different bike engine, I'd be doing the same also. Its a good choice.

Thanks for the all the replies so far. Confirms my thoughts that this would be the way to go. Just wish there was a less expensive option this end of Africa the bloody Birkin is Caterham money and the other options all look like backyard specials. Must say the Birkin is a stunning machine and looks well engineered. There are some great pics of it on there USA dealers site at www.texasmotorworks7.com

Meridian Motorsports hear in Melbourne are also affiliated with them, or the building next to theirs is ( not entirely sure on the connection) I have had a good look over them a few times, some of the guys in our club have them as well (Victorian Clubman Builders Group). You could also check out the “Fraser” from NZ as well, they have an inboard front suspension option as well. I think they would export, they certainly do to Australia.

I have one out of a Subie Forester turbo in mine 4.1 LSD standard.

Very happy with it so far.

They are an Hitachi R180 in the Subie which is the same size as the R160 and much smaller and lighter than the R200.

T20 well I guess we'll just have to wait and see about that. wink

As for the clubbie, originally it started out to be a Locost and finished being modified to the point it is pretty much my own design under the skin.
