Well I've only gone and done it!

Booked and payed on saturday, I have booked my flights out of this country. I fly to Bangkok on the 2nd november, then I have a flight booked for the 10th March from Bangkok to sydney, although I think that one will be pushed back a bit.
No flight home booked.
I am so excited, I simply cannot wait to leave this country and all its misseries behind!
The plan as it stands is to travel South East Asia for 7 months, then down to Australia, stay with a couple of friends in Perth and then Brisbane (and travel around quite a lot). A friend has a camper van that I am going to use to do the East coast over about 5 months.
Then I am going to hope over to Christchurch and spend 6 months looking at New Zealand.
I cannot believe I have actually done it.... Now all I need to do is to save every penny that I earn!

Currently packing up our flat as we fly off on saturday to travel Asia, Oz and New Zealand for 10 months. It is such a great feeling but a little un-nerving at the same time, just given up a fairly secure job and packing our lives up into a rucksack and leave everything you know behind to explore some amazing places.
Best of luck to you though.

Whilst we're on topic, does anyone have any little gems of places to go and visit in SE Asia?
Phu Quoc island in VietnamSapa in northern Vietnam
An amazing food stall near the lake in the centre of Hanoi
Some of the outlying temples near Siem Reap - the ones the tour guides don't take you to!
There are so many that one of my abiding memories of my trip is getting out on a moped and exploring some of the less touristed areas. My blog from the trip is @ www.getjealous.com/v15ben which has a few interesting gems somewhere in all the bluff and banter

Well I just thought I would update you all, if you are interested...
I am now on week 5 of our travels around the world, we have been in Thailand the whole time, been to Puket stayed near Koran Beach in a little place the Boost Guest house run by a very small chinese man called Lee. If anyone is looking for somewhere to stay around there then I can strongly recommend this place.
We are now on Koh Lanta Island just south of Krabi and have been here 3 weeks. we only came for a couple of nights but have fallen in love with the place. The only issue we have had so far is with visas. Had to do a visa run last thursday which turned out to be an almighty ball ache, 10 hours in a mini bus driven by a nutter, 2 ferries and a walk across the Malaysian border later and we can stay in the country another 15 days.... won't be doing that again. Yesterday we booked flights to Kuala Lumpur for a couple of nights as you get a 30 day visa coming in by air and KL was on the list as well so that works out quite well, giving us long enough to see and do everything that we wanted to in Thailand before that Visa runs out.
Then it is off up north to Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos...
Here's a little picture to get you all jealous
