Red 400 SE - Very Nice Example
Discussion
I had a good look at this car (and took a pic of it) at the 'Yorkshire Big Breakfast' meet a couple of weeks ago.
It is absolutely immaculate inside and out...all been re-furbed/re-built.
Personally I'd have preferred the OZ split rim wheels, but that's by the by.
The owner is well known to Trickie Dickie I believe, who was discussing the car with me that day, as well as taking a picture of the black lines I left when I departed.

That does look very nice indeed. Absolutely stunning and must be worth every penny to the right buyer.
It does beg the question of why the owner wants to sell his 400SE and buy a Chim? I would personally much rather have the 400SE, especially in that condition.
I don't know which is the better car but to my eye the Chim looks nicer, personally I would spend an extra £2k and buy a Griff that would keep it's value, I'd seriously consider this 400 for £6k though It does beg the question of why the owner wants to sell his 400SE and buy a Chim? .Nice 944 Turbo on your profile page BTW. That looks in really good condition as well.

Thanks for the 944T comment, I looked at quite a few and for a long time before finding it, the main thing it lacks is noise which is why I'd like a TVR, but I'm not a wedge nut so £8k is too rich for me.
So why pass comment then, knowing that you're on the Wedge forum ?
The car is worth every penny of the asking price and more.
You certainly won't buy it for 6 grand....especially as you're not a 'wedge nut'.
I won't pass any comment on Chims, as I have some respect for fellow TVR owners...no matter what their model preference is.

Well there is no point buying a car if you know deep down that you are not going cherish as much as another model. I personally love the wedges and it is really good to see one is such good condition. Whoever buys that will most certainly have a bargain and the envy of many a TVR meet.If you are looking a buying a TVR but are not quite sure which one why do you not go along to your local TVRCC meet, it would be a good opportunity to see various different types and to have a chat to the owners.

We are a friendly buch and owners always love taking about thier P&J!!!
We are a close knit bunch & protective of each others car in here..!
Take on one take us all on..
At the end of the day, each to their own, it would be very dull if we all liked the same.
I will say this, i bought a mint Chim 450 a few years ago after owning a 350i & 400SE Wedge, and as nice as it was, it didn't have that 'grin' factor for me. I then spent the duration of ownership wishing i'd stayed with my Wedge.
I did, another 400SE...followed quite quickly by a SEAC.

Let me try and answer some of the questions that this 400SE sale has generated,
Firstly this is my car and it is I that is selling it.
I've been mown out with enquiring emails and several phone call conversations. Only one person has been to look, and that person left with their head in tatters. He wanted to buy the car, could not believe the condition, but unfortunatly he came with the impression he would be able to talk me down in price, sadly mistaken.
As i told him, i do not have to sell it, i am doing so to fund another TVR venture and if this does not sell then that venture does not take off. The new Tvr is a CHIMP and the reason for this is i have reached a part in the 400se where i can not improve on it. That said is why i am asking the price that i am, it is worth every penny. I most certainly will keep it if it does not fetch the asking price. I have been around wedges for along time now and i have seen the condition that £4 - £6.5k will buy. Then you move on to the next level both in condition and reflected price.
I have another viewing this week, told this guy on the phone, i will not drop in price , he still wants to come look. Fingers crossed, but i will be very sad indeed when it drives away, as i know what the new buyer of this car will have bought. A top condition, very attractive awsome sounding WEDGE.

but honestly a chimp ?
restless, as I said in the 2nd post in this thread very nice, just to clear the air at no point have I suggested it's not worth what you are asking, in fact if you weren't hours away I probably would have been curious enough to view it and very likely stumped up the asking price, good luck with the sale.

I've seen your car in the flesh, so to speak, and I would struggle to think what else could be done to improve upon it.
It's an absolute credit to you, and I wish you good luck with the sale.
I know we met very briefly at the Malton big breakfast, whilst you were talking to tricky. It's an absolute credit to you, and I wish you good luck with the sale.

Sorry to hear your selling yours too. Hope things sort themselves out and your back in a plastic rocket soon. Good luck with your sale, it will most probably go before mine.
