Registration Date

Guys

My ultima is scheduled for a late July completion if sucessful on IVa first time round. (Unlikely)
Is it worth while registering it at this point?
Is it better to wait until the new registration in sept 1st?
or will this be potinless due to winter weather?
In which case do i wait for march 1st 2011?

In terms of resale it will make very little difference which reg mark is on it so I would go straight in and get on the road.

I'd say go for it, unless you get to end of Sept and still not finished.

I was aiming for 1st Sept last year (which would have been an 8 month total build time), then work commitments meant no way was I going to make it - so I backed of and spent the last 6 months finishing off at a more leisurely pace and waited for the grim winter to pass. Hope to hit the road next week, about 8 weeks behind my revised plan (again due to work overseas impacting many weekends of Ultima build time).

Seems to be the last 5% takes ages!

Mark,
I don't think registration dates play so much part in the value of these cars when compared to normal vehicles. Probably due to the fact that 95% are garaged and therefore it's things like mechanical spec, miles, colour, usage etc.. that are more relevant.
Some Buyers may even be put off by a newer car with few/no miles under the logic that's it's reliability has yet to be proved.

Get it on the road asap and start using it is my advice..

It's called 'Pareto's Principle or the 80-20 Rule'

Basically you can achieve 80% of your goal with 20% effort.
It takes the remaining 80% effort to achieve the last 20% of your goal.

Is it just me, or is it at this point, with funds so low, deadlines creeping away from you that you start to lose sight of why you started building the darn thing?

I love it i do, youd have to to build one, but my god its starting to test me now.

So much money, so many delays. And still no end in sight!

Someone post a vid of it killing a lambo quick i need inspiring!!!!

Yep id go with put it on the road to enjoy as soon as your ready , as from my perspective when i was looking for mine through out last year,( i knew i wanted to buy a built one as i was to impatient to build ) it was spec, condition and colour that was important rather then the leter / number combination on the reg plates , remember live each day like its your last coz one day your be right

Yep sounds about right guys, i know it will be perfect when ive finished but i do think i took the personalise it to your own taste part way too far.

My line in the sand where i should have stopped is about 100 miles ago!

Its back home for a few days before on to home stretch build. Im booking the IVA next week so that should give us he date to work towards, Birmingham state approx 4 / 5 weeks wait.

i had mine sva'd at Birmingham Mark, a guy called Dave. Very interested and impressed with the cars and fair on the test.

i also think unless you do a standard build on the car, you just can not plan a finish date for them. Every time you 'customise' something it opens a can of worms, there is very little space for 'extras' and you have to fit something half a dozen times before you can be sure it's going to work.

It will get there though.
