Smugness

Hi guys,

An incident got me thinking today; I was pootling along in my own world looking to join a slip road to get onto the motorway. I checked my mirror and saw a white Q7 on the right hand lane of the slip road looming and looking ever bigger by the second. The driver was obviously gunning it; something ticked in my head and made me downshift into third; as I drive an unassuming Civic estate, the driver must've thought, "Look at his little banger, bet he's got no chance". Wrong. As the car howled to the red line in typical VTEC fashion; I left him for dead. Boy was I smug. ;-)

Now I'm not saying for a moment I have the better car on the road by any means but it felt so satisfying. Does anyone else have a 'crap' looking car that surprises people, and when they surprise another driver do they also feel smug? Or am I just sad?

Before anyone else says it, I will say that, no I didn't drive in the way I did because I'm insecure and thus have a need to show off. :-)

I'm young, male and drive a citroen saxo, its standard, unmolested & i dont drive it like a complete toss pot. I bet I surprise more people then you!

Or perhaps he had no idea that the slower moving vehicle he was passing decided they wanted to have a race with him?

Which civic are you on about, Im assuming it was the bottom of the range Q7 at 3.0 and 0-60 in 8.5 and I cant be bother to find in gear acceleration

I know what you mean, I picked up a bag of salt & vinegar crisps today, and the bloke next to me went for BBQ flavour. Salt & Vinegar is a much better flavour than BBQ, so boy did I feel smug.

Spartikus don't assume people with cheap(er) cars can't afford more expensive cars. A flash car may not be THAT important to them in life.

Yeah some the comments are harsh, they just don't get it do they blud?

In other news, I went past a 250GTO on the M25 like he was standing still. I know he was trying but I was bang on 50mph on GPS (going through specs you see) so he didn't stand a chance. Fiat 1.4 power for the win!

Boy was I smug...
