When can I have a 997???

i went into Dick Lovett Porsche today to sound out the position regarding ordering a 997.

They were pretty evasive to be honest, with no clear idea when cars are going to turn up and what spec they will offer.

And they would not take any money from me as a deposit.

Now I figured that once the car hits the listings the waiting list will be at least a year in no time - which means 2006 delivery. So I thought I would get in early.

Anyone here succesful in placing a deposit?

Or am I jumping the gun?

Perhaps I should get my name down for a DB9...

(hopefully I can afford to buy it by then ! )

After months of deliberating over what 993 to get in place of my Boxster, then changing my mind and deciding it had to be a 996 - I've just gone and put my name down for a 997! It's going to be a long wait

They (Stratstones of Wilmslow) wouldn't take any money yet (which is nice) and I can only assume that's because there is no official news on the car yet. They did suggest that when they do call for a deposit a number of people will drop out so I should move forward. Roll on 2005!

BTW, they're also starting a list on the 998.

I'm on a list at the Colchester Dealer, said, Out september, I'd get mine around May/June 05!!!.. So they've got a yr already!!!.. Wanted £3k around May to confirm interest...
