Temp gauge

Tried the search but found nothing. Anyone remember who manufatures the temp gauge. Mine seems to have died. No temp problems, ecu reads fine, signal seems ok so gauge looks like the problem.

I believe the gauges are from the Telemetrix line of gauges from Smiths - rebranded with the Noble logo, of course.

I bought a new one from Noble last year (for a 2.5)....turned out the problem wasn't with the guage so I have my old one sitting in the garage....Pm if you want it

Well certainly not for an oil pressure gauge as I asked them. Maybe as its an original part you might have more luck?

If you're replacing a broken gauge, you might want to try their service department to see if they'll swap the Noble face from the old gauge onto the new one...

Hamish has kindly let me have his old one so I'll put that in and see if it sorts the problem. I spoke with Speedy Cables ( who have all the Smiths drawings and stuff) who said they could have a look at my guage but thats £30+p&p. A new one (without the logo) is only £26 plus vat & p+p. I asked them about swopping the face over but they weren't very helpful. If the new one works I might take my old one apart and see if its possible to swop the faces across. If it looks like it is easy to do then all that we need in the future is to buy the a guage and swop the faces across. QED

Well new gauge now in and it still isn't reading properly. ECU reading temp fine, fans kick in correctly as they ate linked to ecu now and have been for a few years.So where does the gauge get the info from ?

Anyone have any ideas. The annoying thing is that its picking up something because the gauge starts to move then gets just up to about 50 degrees ish and falls back.

I think the temp gauge gets its signal from the ECU,not 100% sure though.

Paul the early 2.5 cars had a sensor for the ecu and a sensor for the gauge they are both in the cast link pipe between the heads, give me a call tomorrow if you need help finding it.

Well its not the gauge, not the wiring so must be the sensor. Anyone know the part number or where its from?

Its the single sensor that plugs into the water bypass assembly with a spade connector on the 2.5.

Getting temp sensor via factory I'll put the details on the wikki when it arrives.

Gauge now working, it was the sensor. Theres nothing on the new one which gives any indication of part number or where its from so can't add anything to the wikki.

If you need one speak to the factory.

Its a bit of a bugger to get the old one out because of limited access. Sockets too big normal spanner not enough room to turn so you need an 18mm ractchet spanner. Works a treat. Again big thanks to Hamish (northnoble) for his help
