Cheers for the link.

I've been following this cars (lengthy) development with interest. Love the way Murray is happy to throw away the rule book right across the board.

Another two years?! This thing better be good...

And how do you get in or out when it is pissing it down, or when it has been snowing without the interior getting flooded?

ETA: I've decided I'd like one; I love the idea of not having anyone sat next to me when I'm driving. If only he could make it in a ridiculously aerodynamic supercar coupe type shape, with a huge engine and a 200mph+ top speed...

You'll need quite a high-ceilinged garage by the looks of it.

I hope this works out - any clues on costs?

Incidentally, I wonder how well that'll pass NCAP testing....

I wouldn't want to be crashed into while driving ANYTHING that weighs 650kgs.

With 99.9999% of cars on the road heavier than you, it's gonna hurt.

Read up on Gordon Murray and his past achievements. If you don't get it after you have done that, there is no hope. smile

At this rate he will release the most advanced horse and cart in the world sometime in the next decade.

Does anyone think

A) He will ever get this design to market.
B) That the design won't have been over taken by events by the time it's finally available.

Fittster - I know what you mean. Yes it's revolutionary, but how long has it taken? And, will it have missed the boat?

I always thought it was a missed opportunity from someone like Aston not to invest in this. Why?
Because it would lower their average range consumption to meet forecoming EU demands and more unique than that Cygnet thingy they've created...

If this car had Kia pushing it, not one person on this website would rave about it.

Personally, I couldnt care less who designed it. It still looks like hell and will sound crap.

Seems like a reasonable concept, but I'm not sure how you're supposed to get out when it falls over. Just wait patiently until someone comes along to right it?

I have to agree. Although these kind of cars are needed this is a horrible looking little contraption and am surprised that considering his past he has not managed to make it look anywhere near attractive.

I agree, it does LOOK a bit crap, but I am hoping that is just a test body and the final one will look like the deign they already revealed:

http://www.autodescuento.com/blog/wp-content/uploa...

I think it makes a lot of sense to go back to the drawing-board when it comes to designing "city cars" and I think Gordon is likely to get this right. Whether people will buy it or not is a different matter....

People just wont buy this car - because it's not from a mianstream manufacturer. Non-Petrolheads wont "get" the Murray thing and will just think it's another Smart type car.

He has no dealer network and no history of mass production.

Toyota etc. will have a similar product available just as Murray finishes his.

Talk is of four stars at least. Price extremely competitive compared to anything currently out there (Smart, Fiesta) - a figure of £6k sticks in my mind. Running costs are also extremely competitive - payback in two and a half years claimed (although I'm not clear on the maths that lead to this number).
