I haven't been in here for a while but had a call from an old GF last night wanting advice on a new watch. She seems to have at first set her heart on a Breitling Colt Quartz which I did my best to dissuade her from buying. So I started searching, maximum budget £1,700 including discount or secondhand, and then though that the great pool of knowledge here would shortcut my feeble brain power. She's an active girl, loves horses and cars, so we don't want anything dainty but tough yet stylish. Being an IWC person I looked at their range but couldn't find anything. Sinn, Damasko etc? Over to you for some ideas please!

Noticed some girls wearing Rolex Airkings recently. Looked good and probably available at that price... http://www.blowers-jewellers.co.uk/more_3.htm

How big are her wrists?

If she can wear a 40mm watch then there are plenty of Sinn choices or the Damasko's appart from the 66/67's will be fine.

If 38mm is her upper limit then maybe a Sinn 356, 556 or 656 will fit the bill.

As has been said already a Rolex Airking could work, or so could a Datajust.

The brief is pretty wide here & stuff like the Damasko 36/37 or Sinn 556 or 656 would come in around the £400 - £600 range, so well within budget.

I think the IWC 3706 Flieger is 38 or 40mm & they can be had for about £1,700, as can the 3538 Aquatimers which I think are 42mm.

Another option would be a nice vintage SM300 or Speedmaster MkII

I bought my sister a Rolex for her 21st. Stupid thing has been unreliable and support from Rolex has been very poor.
