Hi guys, Has anyone got any of the spax G2011 shocks fitted to their car? I have just spoken to spax and they say that they are a coilover shock that is a direct fit replacement for the standard shocks (same top and bottom mounts, same lengths etc.), they do suggest strengthening the top and bottom mounts to be on the safe side though. Unfortunately they do not have any suggested spring to fit these, does anyone know how to work out the length? My front spring rates are 350 lbs/in and the rears are 157 lbs/in. not sure if that makes a difference either.
All the best

Fronts are they?

I had some Spaxes fitted to the 350i, they came with coilover adjustable aluminium spring platforms, I just thought 'well they won't work', binned the aly bits (actually I lie, I still have them somewhere) and fitted the shocks inside the existing springs, they worked a treat.

What Adam said except mine actually bent at the bottom t blew their seals and SPAX didn't replace. This is 2 weeks after I bought them. Now I have some useless custom made 450lbs spring taking up space waiting to be sold for a huge loss. Granted then didn't bind for me.

yes they are fronts, dont suppose either of you remember the lengths of the springs? or a part number?
Did the 450lb springs work ok in the end, they must have been very stiff, thats a hell of a rate.

Mr crappy, they were custom made eibach springs as 2.25 id isn't a popular size in the states. They were the 10" length that are specified for this size shock and no it wasn't stiff but it also didn't ride high enough to not rub. If you haven't gotten the hint. SPAX and their fake look coilover is useless on a TVR as a coilover. Don't waste your time or money.

Don't get me wrong, they were nice shocks, just keep the original springs.

Again with Adam, here not bad shocks for the price but don't rely on any warranty from them as you won't get one from my experience. Had them rebuilt by a race shock builder locally and they're fine after I put the orignal spring back in and rebent the t bar back to its original shape.

Thanks guys I think I'll give them a miss then, I might have ago at welding on some of the coil over conversionthread kit bits off eBay to my originals. Then I can try springs without the huge cost.
Thanks again
