So, I listed a load of stuff lately, just various bits of crap and a couple of more valuable things that were lying around.

For the most part, I've had no problems (except out of about 8 people who have paid me, only 3 have left feedback).

However, and sods law this, the two most expensive items, they still haven't even bothered to pay. Now, one of them ended only yesterday, so I'm not panicking yet, although I know for a fact that this individual had been sitting on ebay bidding (even asked me a question about it 30 mins previous to it ending), and now that he's won, has he coughed up? No.

As for the other guy, its been 7 days now since he won, I've sent the invoice etc, but no contact, no nothing. This is someone with 100% feedback (albeit only 14 of them though).

In all the time I've been on ebay I've rarely had problems with anyone, and I certainly haven't been troubled with none payers.

So, what next for the 7-day guy? I was going to send an email asking him again to pay within the next 7 days or I'd take further action (meaning I'd report him to ebay has a none-payer and get any fees returned)... does that seem fair enough, or should I just report him as a none payer now? Its quite obvious if I do nothing, neither will they.

Honestly, why do these cocks bid for things and then have no intention of buying?

If you've emailed and got no response, report away. Some people bid before payday etc but if he hasn't even explained then he obviously doesn't want it.

Well I've sent them an email saying I've not received payment and that they either let me know if they dont want it, or pay me immediately or I'll file it as unpaid.

I still don't get it though. If I buy something on there, I pay immediately. Why would you buy something then just bury your head in the sand? rolleyes

Timewasters for you. Probably didn't even want it in the first place. Or simply changed their mind. Perhaps can't afford it - there's many reasons...

I hear it can become quite addictive all that placing bids/winning auctions business.

I lost £1,000 on a vehicle I was selling a while back where someone failed to pay. They bid for it, had good communication for 3 weeks or so, then annoucned that they did not have the money to pay for it.

The vehicle (specialist) was relisted later, but at that point another specialist dealer went on selling all their stock and other followed, so the vehcile sold for a £1000 less than I would have got for a it a month earlier.

Nothing you can really do, all this bks of "its a legally binding contract" means nothing. I just don't have the time to go to court and piss about.

Lesson learnt, don't accept anyone messing around or excuses.

I wouldn't stress too much, only half an hour ago I bid and won a wing mirror. It was selling then, so I had to buy it then. It's the end of the month, so payday isn't for a day or two, not the end of the world really.

Having sold a few things I've been on your side of the fence too, so I can kind of see your point. There are more honest people in the world than you think, not everyone is just there to waste time!

That must be one fvck-off expensive wing mirror if you can't afford to pay for it until pay day.

perhaps he's decided, on reflection, that it's too expensive

Usual nonsense, I often have to wait for ages to get payment after auctions have ended and getting feedback these days is rare. Very annoying as I like to know when things I sell arrive safely with the new owner. You also get people like the chap on the other eBay thread who wait 2-months before emailing to tell you something arrived broken...

As a buyer I hardly ever receive feedback so I hardly ever leave it.

That's how it should be!
No point in purchasing something if one is not going to pay for it.

Exactly.. i just think if you've bothered to bid and win - pay for it as soon as you've won! .. unfortunately not everyone is like that !
