loose dipstick tube?

I went to look at a M400 for sale and one of the problems I found was that the dipstick tube assembly was totally wobbly/loose.Almost like it had broken a bracket or base fixing. I couldnt pull it out and cant see why its loose.
Would this be a big issue to fix , and is it possible dirt got in at its entry to engine?
The dipstick was fine.
