E38 Instrument Cluster Swap - Advice Please

My E38 728i has got the dead pixel curse on the centre screen on the instrument cluster. Not just a few pixels either, but pretty much dead.

I was thinking about getting a cluster from a breakers (I believe E39's share the same cluster). However, I did read that swapping with another unit can mess it up and that it can then end up thinking its been clocked...

So can anyone help? Am I able to just straight swap clusters with no ill effects?

Any thoughts appreciated...
