Finally got my Griff 500 on Tuesday from a certain 'Regal' TVR franchised dealership after the 'yes we've serviced it - opps, sorry sir, no we haven't' debacle last Thursday (see 'First 5 hours of TVR ownership' thread). Despite all their assurances that they would deliver it by 10.30am, it didn't arrive until 2pm.

Apparently it has now been serviced. However, the ice sensor is on permanently, the full beam spots light up the sky not the road, they've snapped the clock adjustment knob off setting the time to BST and a bulb is blown on the speedo. The seal on the roof hoop is also badly split. Most worryingly it was immmensely down on power and would not accelerate past 3,500 revs.

Humph!!!

I think I have the last problem sorted out (with the help of my local independent specialist). The car was low on fuel (despite a full tank of fuel being promised) and the fuel cap was not vented. More fuel plus vented fuel cap seem to have sorted the problem, although I haven't had the chance to drive the car much yet.

The specialists had a quick look over the car and, niggles apart, it seems to be a good one - much to my relief!

But clearly I need to have another 'discussion' with the supplying dealer....

I had a long chat with TVR's customer service manager, Jason about the service of this dealer. If you have a bad experience with a dealer, let TVR know. If we don't tell them they can't do anything about it!

At least I can now look forward to a weekend of V8 burble, country roads and a fair bit of polishing!

I would have rejected the car or refused delivery until these problems were attended to.

Good luck.

Andy

Glad to hear that you FINALLY have your pride 'n' joy. But a shame that certain dealer had to add a few more insults before handing it over.
If I were in your position, I would keep all the receipts of the things you have had to do, and WILL have to do to get the Griff up to the way it should be(the way ALL cars should leave dealerships; RIGHT). Then I would send them along with a frank letter to the dealer expecting to be compensated. Be a thorn in their side till they do too.

That aside, once you get out this weekend all the hassle will be blown away. LITTERALLY!! Roof down, shades on and listen to that V8 baseline whilst rapidly running out of raod

Welcome to Griffith ownership

Thanks Ged

I'm just about to call the dealer...

Unfortunately I spent too much time in the Tamora last weekend and it has made driving the Griff seem not quite as exciting. I'm sure that'll wear off pretty quickly though!!

Happy ending.....

Just spoken to the 'Regal' dealer and ran through the problems. They apologised and offered to come and get the car, sort it out and deliver it back - or I can get them sorted locally and send them the bill, along with the receipt for a tank of fuel.

More problems than I should have had from the 'Regal' chaps, and the service thing was shocking - but I now have an outcome that I am happy with.

Big thanks to Steve and Harry at Thames Valley Racetech for sorting out my loss of power problem - especially as I turned up there unannounced. Steve had a diagnostic thingy on the car within 5 minutes and even paid for some more fuel when he test drove it as I had left my wallet at their office. Top service!!
