Im going to America (orlando) in 2 weeks. . . and looking to change cash asap (before the election)

most likely about 1000 Sterling into Dollars

What are the best options?

Cash
Travelers Cheques
Pre Pay Card

Or a mixture of cash and one of the others?

Where is best to do this most high street are only offering 1.45 im sure i can do better than them.

I know it's not £ to $ but when I recently wanted Euros I found the Post Office offered a better rate of exchange than my bank despite having a so-called premium bank account which offered commission free foreign currency purchases.

I'm in the same predicament.

I found that ICEWaterloo is doing the best deal. Last week it was 1.53, but now gone down slightly...maybe 1.51.
If you can get to London, it's a very good deal. You have to go on their website first and print off a voucher and take it with you to get the Internet rates.

Have a good holiday!

The dollar index is rising if that helps.

I got a CaxtonFX card when i went to the US a few months ago to save carrying about heaps of cash. Works a treat, stuff like paying for meals and shopping went without a hitch. When i got mine they were the best for exchange rates. Currently doing $1.5030

They only issue i found was that all the cash machines i used charged a few dollars a time but i was lazy and didn't look around for the free ones.

Easy to top up too mid trip.

ETA: Next time i'll take the majority of money on the card and a little bit in cash.

Change half of it and leave the other half in sterling and maybe change it while you're there. You might get a slightly better rate over there at some point.

You can take cash out of your current account very easily at the banks and the cash machines over there.
