I am not sure why but we have begun getting a lot of door-to-door fish sales people knocking on our door. This is annoying because not only are we modest consumers of fish, the sellers seem to be an arsey bunch who don't like taking no for an answer.

Six months or so ago one such white-coated fish seller knocked on and reeled of his sales pitch but when I politely declined he turned around and swore at me as he walked up the path. So I went after him. He rounded on me and shouted someting like, "do you want some then, do you" whilst ripping off his white coat. On balance I presumed that he was not referring to fish by this time, so I calmly stood my ground and asked him to repeat what he'd said. When it became apparent that I wasn't about to cave in he suddenly became contrite, apologised and picked up his coat.

Today, again, different firm of fish sellers. Again, the bloke didn't like the polite "no thank you, we're OK for fish" and glared at me as he strode off.

What is it with these people? Is the door-to-door fish sales business where agressive ar5eholes go to earn a wage or is my refusing to buy fish at the door a deeply unreasonable thing to do?

What is their problem? I doubt they would like it if a bunch of pikes went to their plaice trying to shell fish.

Perhaps they just want to batter you when you don't buy their goods.......getmecoat

It would be easy for me, since I don't like any fish so would be able to simply say I hate them all! biggrin

As long as you didn't bendover and bare your sole to them. Nothing worse than people who pearch in their vans selling fish especially when they have mullets. And herrings.

I would never buy fish, or any food from these 'sales people'. Even if, for some ridiculous reason you wanted some fish, or just bought it to get rid of them you have shot yourself in the foot because then they will be back, every week.

My dad said yes to a pikey looking bloke looking to cut our front hedge. He still comes back every summer 20 years later.
