Morning all,

My E46 Coupe has just had a new set of front speakers fitted following the driver’s side mid range (bottom of door) blowing a while back and becoming a nuisance.

Car originally had the standard BMW (non HK upgrade) speakers and were quite pooh.

Did a lot of research and found my options very limited in terms of replacements/upgrades without having to butcher the door cards etc to make something fit.

Eventually stumbled across (completely by chance) a website (RaySmith.co.uk) who stocked 'Rainbow' speakers manufactured specifically for the E46 coupe.

Located a chap form the Yellow pages, couple of hours labor, all fitted.

Absolutely terrific sound!!

I'm no Hi-Fi geek so I'm sure there are people who will name-drop far superior equipment to be had.

However, for anyone out there after something with a bit more beans to it, defo worth a look.

Yeah those ones!!

They were £248.00 (bit pricey I know) and fit directly into molds in the door card.

Quite an astonishing transformation!

This is interesting.

So it is just a pair of speakers? Im dubious as to how that improves it so much without the addition of an AMP.

Just the front speakers? For that price, which you could have a small AMP + speakers installed I would want them all replacing.

Well it's 4 speakers in total.. Two crossovers as well.

The major convenience is no adaptations required to the door cards. Very few options available without butchering/being handy with a dremmel.

I'm also making a comparison against 8 year old (blown) originals, so perhaps my views are a little biased.

Either way, i'm happy with them!! :-)
