He always was a swine. Although I wish it had been the sound thrashing of some little upstart, rather than the rather weak "physical violence" involved. Boarding school just ain't what it once was, chaps.

Treading on someone's toes pales a little in comparison to ttting them with a dumbell whilst screaming 'diediediediedie'.

´Twas different in my day. I recall one teacher regularly clipped students round the back of the head because it amused him to do so.
Social Services, Independent Safeguarding Authority, Police? For treading on a kid´s foot? Give me strength.

The most interesting thing about the article the OP linked to, was a link on the same page to another article.

I suppose it makes a change for the police to be probing a house master - isn't it typically the house master that does all the probing?

Could be worse - this guy was the Headmaster at my school, fortunately he wasn't there when I was.

I'll add to this that the above story is pending the mentioned court case - I hope this doesn't breach the T&Cs...

Indeed. Mine wasnt even a boarding school but one of our geography teachers was reknowned for being able to skud anyone in the class who was talking with a chalk duster without having to even pause to take aim.
