Is it worth trying to drive to the Highway Code?
Discussion
I was turning right through a box junction, opposite was someone trying to do the same.
I drove forward to turn behind him offside to offside, he decided to do the opposite and all I received was a mouthful of abuse and an empty tomato sauces bottle gesture for my trouble!
What do you do?

When turning right at crossroads where an oncoming vehicle is also turning right, there is a choice of two methods
turn right side to right side; keep the other vehicle on your right and turn behind it. This is generally the safer method as you have a clear view of any approaching traffic when completing your turn
left side to left side, turning in front of each other. This can block your view of oncoming vehicles, so take extra care. Cyclists and motorcyclists in particular may be hidden from your view. Road layout, markings or how the other vehicle is positioned can determine which course should be taken

While we were minding our own business today, we came across a title reading: new world land speed record for the blind set by... Now, we know blind men (or women) behind the wheel of a car is not something unheard of. What we didn't know existed is a land speed record for the blind...
Odd as it may seem. Blind people are allowed out and about on their own. And may just need to be aware of what the rules are regarding where they can walk safely, how to use crossings etc.
The highway code is not "the drivers code" it's for everybody who intends to venture outside their house.

AFAIK the only reasons for NOT going behind to turn right, are: A staggered junction, or if the road is narrow. It's safer to go behind in normal circumstances, as your view of oncoming traffic isn't obscured by the vehicle turning right from the opposite direction.

not surprising that there's so much discussion on here of motoring 'problems' which usually end up to be fuelled by impatience...nobody can even be bothered to read a thread before commenting on the OP:Tim

This has recently changed. I learnt in 1994 and was taught the pass and turn method, whereas my girlfriend learnt this year and was taught the turn head-on method. Both apply well to different situations, with the newer method working better if there's a queue of cars. Traffic congestion has no doubt been the reason for the rethink. Where I live they've just painted all the junctions instructing drivers to follow the new method.
