I'm from an engineering background and the only advice we received from the government as to the energy price problem was "that's an incentive to go green".

fking tts

a shame that the article neglected to mention the 15% environmental surcharge whacked on their energy bills by Winky & Co. And that's on top of the VAT furious

The problem is that Dave Cameron won't do anything about this. In fact, his windmills plan means that energy costs will soar up to about 37p/kWh, which is the figure that Labour plans will also lead to. Any manufacturing will be almost impossible with energy costs like that.

The odd thing is that the media and the shallow politicians refuse to discuss the issue, and we deprive ourselves of a say by voting tactically.

UKIP will stop this from happening, but most voters who support their policies think that it is more important to kick Gordon out. Cameron is a committed social democrat, and the Conservative party has been hijacked.

We've got a £1.4 Trillion problem, and the three main parties are argueing about £6 Billion. I tried to watch the debate last night but got so disgusted that I switched off after 20 minutes.

yikes Crap! A good friend works at that plant! This brings it home; I now wholeheartedly support the execution of gordon the incompetent monocular bigot - not just electorally, but physically too!

I suspect there's a lot more of this about to happen . . . this is the second wave, regardless of how much the Banks lend or how much money the Govt invest in youth training, University places etc, if the costs of running a business in the UK are too high then the larger companies will move overseas.

Sadly unexpected when we sold off all of our generating plant to the EU and let them dictate.

Ho hum

Sad, but not unexpected - get ready for a lot more of the same.

You lot are overreacting, it's only 450 jobs, not much in the big scheme of things.

Wrong - in the big scheme of things its ANOTHER 450 jobs. If it was only 450 it might be a little better, but add these 450 to another 200 here and 600 there. Its also the big multinationals that cause the problems.
Some smaller companies are now bringing their work back. Hopefully more will follow.
