Nurburgring 24 hrs

Anyone been there, done that ? It's on 13-15 May. What time does it start, I assume on the Sat.

Do you need tickets to spectate out in the countryside, say Brunchen Adenau etc. Can you just turn up and buy tickets'

Whats the crowds like, traffic.

Any advice appreciated.

I went across in 2008. It's amazing.

Tickets: Just buy on site, for 3 days i think it was about £50ish.
Camping: Plenty around the track, again, just turn up and buy there and then, approx £60 for 4 nights.
It starts at about midday Saturday, but racing is on constantly from Thursday IIRC.

We saw everything racing from pre war racers to pre production mainstream models. Crowds are mainly Germans and Dutch from our experience, very, very friendly. The food and drink on site was cheap compared to Le Mans. I was planning to go back this year, but have to attend a wedding instead.

I've just booked a ryanair flight for 43 euros all in tanx to your advice. I'll hire a car and go. Really want to see Walter Rohl drive the bog standard RS. Worth that alone.

lol Im missing the regular Lemans24hr this June due to having to attend a wedding....mine. So we're trying the classic leman in july insted this year.

I went to Nurburgring a few weeks back...stayed at ZurBurg (spelling?) up the road from the main entrance. Found food and drink (not a fan of Bitburger mind)more expensive than home obviously but nothing as like what we get charged at Lemans (even more annoying when its British snack vans ripping us off at lemans as well)....it was our first trip to Nurburg, deffo will be returning though!

The drive from Calais took about 3 hours IIRC. I don't think that we went on any de-restricted sections though. Stuck to 80-95mph most of the way.

Does Radio Le Mans broadcast a commentry from the Ring 24hrs that I can listen to while there and what frequency ?

Online broadcast only I think.

Unlike LeMans there are not THAT many brits there, and it's not flat enough to use a single low power transmitter so I think it's just not worth their effort to do an FM broadcast local to the circuit.

I wouldn't rely on a 3G dongle either. All we got was GPRS connection and it wasn't good enough to listen online. You'll need to find a Wi-Fi spot... we didn't.
