Hopefully be in a position next week to purchase a GTV V6
Apart from the obvious common sense check is there anything I should be specifically looking for.
Obviously history, a cambelt change history.
Should I be concerned about more than 100k on the clock if there is a rock solid history with it, I presume a history with a specialist is as good, if not better than with a main dealer.
I tend to buy on history and condition rather than mileage but this approach has been taken with Audis and Volkswagen - can I apply the same rationale to a GTV

Check for any knocking noises coming from the suspension, especially the rear, which is mounted on an aluminium sub-frame. If the bushes have gone it will start wearing the sub-frame and that's an expensive part to replace. Check for excessive wear on the inside edges of the tyres - if the geometry is out it can eat through a set of tyres rather quickly. Any flat spots at 3000rpm probably means the air flow meter needs replacing - get a proper Bosch one - it will set you back about £150 - don't get some cheapo one from fleabay.

To add to the above,
I was under the impression that V6's had a different rear suspension set-up to the TS and therefore didnt suffer from the Bush issue. Also i would add that i wouldnt panic about inside edges of the tyres wearing too badly, they all do it to a certian extent naturally!!

The V6 does have slightly different rear suspension but they still suffer from bush issues, I had to replace the spring pan bushes on mine.http://www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/
