First track day, don't tell the wife but I'm hooked! (I was in the Yellow 993RS being overtaken by everyone inc. the kid in the Ka with his Dad - excellent!)

Back in London went to jet wash for entire car de-salt but brakes slightly seized this morning. Anything else I should/could do as I'm worried about caliper corrosion etc.

Thanks in advance!

Glad you enjoyed your first trackday, which circuit were you on ? With regrads to the brakes, fistly are you absolutley sure its the brakes ? Probably best get the car looked at by a pro.

It's normal having washed the car to do a short run and use the brakes to get the water off them before putting the car in the garage. Though if you did this and you still have a problem, as already suggested time to visit your mechanic.

i do not remember overtaking you (white 968 coupe) does that mean i was the slowest -- i hope not !! I had no trouble with the KA though!

about your brakes, another wash even with the wheels off might be a good idea, i don't think you need worry about corrosion, i would give the brakes some steady but hard applications from say 50 to 0 to see how they are at the end of it. that may settle them down.

one question though, if you heated your brakes up a bit at Bedford I hope you did not apply full handbrake straight off the track. this can do funny things.

I was there too in a lowered silver c2 996.

Fantastic day/ facilities/ organization as usual.
Was my 30th visit to bedford and know the track well. ...so it was good fun giving the gt3 boys a bit of a run for their money too.

Amazing the number of porsches there.

Out of 100 cars, I reckon 50 were from Stuttgart.
Only 2 tvrs/ 1 ferrari (which failed the now very strict noise test) and a handful of elises/ evos/ m3s.

Plus one VERY VERY quick green Caterham!!

I liked it. It takes out the most dangerous corners from the previous layout ( had a close shave there a couple of years ago myself) . It does seem quite slippery. Will probably try some big oversteer there next time in a cheaper car to test the water!!!

yes the Caterham is very quick, it belongs to Peter Unwin who has a business in Derbyshire -- from the brief chats I have had with him he does not like to get overtaken! He has a JP1 on order as well, just being finished in one of the hangars at the side of the bedford circuit -- then there will be no catching him!

I liked the new corner, the approach to it is interesting as well, found it quite technical at first, the tarmac was fresh/dusty and not grippy enough, better later -- the turn in point and apex markers seemed most odd at the beginning -- it does suit lighter cars, my std Porsche 968 seems to be too heavy and a lot of speed is scrubbed off trying to get to the apex.

nice quiet drive home, no blizzard

New corner is very good, I like the entry to the very tight little complex they've built.

I was there in the Black GT2, it was great so see so many Porkers there and about 5 GT3 RS's.......

Saturday was fantastic, never been to Bedford before and was eager to as a couple of mates have worked there in the past. Very impressed with the quality of cars there and thanks to Paul, got a ride with Peter in the Caterham and just to verify, yes, it is very fast!! Looking forward to going to the next!

???? if so that may explain some noise from the brakes...gravel gets behind brake splash shields and everywhere allegedly

Paul,

That's a great link, I looked up your car, nice pic, looks like plenty of load on there, steady at the helm...
