The Holy Grail

Where is it?
Lots of stories, little veifiable facts. Most of the stories date from circa 1200. There are a few serious, as far as the evidence goes, candidates.
A church in Valencia has a cup which is 1st century and possibly from the region of Syria.
There is a strong tradition that the grail was taken to Britain. From here however the stories diverge. The Chalice Well near Glastonbury is named in one telling. In others it went to Ireland and, in some versions, on to America. The key part of this is often the association of Joseph of Arimathea with tin traders to Cornwall. This was a known trade route at the time and a nice long way for anyone in trouble after the crucifiction to get away from the Romans back home. Not much in the way of evidence however.
Some years ago an amateur historian put together a history of people associated with the grail, traced it, and aquired what he thought was the real thing. Apparently it looked like a rather worn and small stone cup. Currently in a bankvault IIRC. I can't recall the name of the guy or the title of his book.
