My love of shiny tat that holds no function reached new levels this morning when I proudly fitted a pair of gold, Hope grip doctor bar plugs to my trusty steed.... Not only are these not cheap (£12 eBay) but they will quite possibly perform an inferior function to the plastic ones they replaced...

... But hey! They're gold! And so so shiny....

Anybody else put anything similar on their bike for no other reason than "Cos they can"?

Nope, i ride a 8 year old bike with no 'shiney bits' and i never clean it, always getting on at my mates for following biking fashions and buying st because it looks cool or shiney... I then beat said riders at the last downhill race on my old non shiney no gimmicks bike while they must have spent over 15k on bikes and upgrades in the time iv had one that cost 4k to build. smile i am replacing my bike now though as i fear the frame may snap soon. smile

Yep, my vice is red shiny shiny. I am currently looking at a full SRAM X.0 drive train because of the redwin colour option, I know this would serve a purpose though. Unlike replacing headset spacers and lock on grips. If it's anodised and red I want it

My Ibis Mojo has red anodised ceramic hope BB, anodised red hope pro II hubs, red anodised QR on the rear, Cran Bros Joplin seat post has red anodised finish and the Hope M4s front a rear have gold anodised caliper caps with floating discs on gold splines biggrin

So I LOVE shiny but....

The Cervelo is all black, carbon, stealthy and aerodynamic as a bike can be... pure evil ! smile

in the mid nineties, everyones bikes were adorned with anodised shiny bits. purple was the colour of choice (presumably because it was mint sauce's favourite?!) companies like x-lite must have made a fortune, QRs, bar ends....
