Oof quite a bad crash, remember speccing at brands many years ago when I was only about 3 or 4 and a wheel bouncing over the crash barrier over my head and smashing the motorbike helmet behind me on the outside of clark curve. Pretty much one of my first memories. Remember moving then, so why didn't these people think of getting out the way when you have a 6 ft crash barrier and a 1000kg mini rolling towards you at a rate of knots, probably too drunk to realise, bloody aussies

lets face it - that point on the circuit - the fence isnt designed to stop a car going through, its a crowd barrier.
looked like there is a big gravel trap, then a double layer tyrewall, 4 tyres high, with a banking behind it - the throught of a car rolling over the trap and over the bank is very remote.
in the same way at say Oulton Park - over hilltop. the crowd are quite close to the track, with only about 3ft to the tyrewall/banking then a further 6ft to the track - as its been for a good 30years and seen as safe(ish) yet the Clio Cup last year sent 3 cars into that tyre banking and a tractor tyre into the crowd.
That is why 'motorsport is dangerous' signs are everywhere.
