all depends on what tyres he is using? if standard i would think around 26psi cold as this will go up a lot when the tyres get hot,i would look around 30 psi hot

24 front 26 rear cold, depending how hard you push these should come up to about 26/27 front 30 rear. If its the first time he's used the VX on track with Bridgestones he's in for a surprise!!!! I'll be there Tuesday evening in a green vx, come and say hello

Interesting replies. I run an S2 Exige so similar weight etc to a VX. I'm on 888's and I would start with 17/20 cold and not go above 21/23 hot. Do the tyres make that much difference?

I inadvertently ran 24 cold on my rears recently which I reckon must have been 27-28 hot and I've worn a 2" band right down the centre of the tyre and spent a fair amount of time facing the wrong way on track before I realised what I'd done getmecoat

On my VX I run 20 fr 25 r cold which comes up to 24 fr 30 r hot and I find it perfect. There is a post (below) from Alan Meaker of Toyos technical and motorsport dept and it suggests these are the ideal pressures for this weight of car (vx, exige, elise etc) IMO 21/23 is much too low but if it works for you then all well and good

Interesting read, suggests Light 800kg - 1000kg 24 - 32 psi hot. My car is 980kg with me in it with a 38:62 F/R balance. Might try a few different pressures next time.

Yes, track tyres (like the 888s/A048s etc.) can be very different, for road tyres not really.

21/23 is IMO a bit too low for an 888 on an Exige to get the most out of the tyre and for longevity. The wear band round the centre is a common feature of 888s unfortunately and is also common on some slicks. A048s produce similar levels of grip and tend to wear more evenly but are that bit more expensive and not as good in the wet.
