oil warning ligh

On the way back from Chatsworth my oil light started to flicker. Oil pressure is fine,70 on start up dropping to 50 on warm tickover, just topped up with oil, but light is still on. Have tried ph search but nothing comes up of use. Any clues as to what might be causing this?

Sounds like it will be the oil pressure sender unit under the coil packs. Like this one:

You topped the oil up - was that becauase it was low? Assuming the oil wasnt low and that you topped it up to max and no more.....then your car will be fine to drive. The oil pressure gauge is more reliable than the switch for the red light.

Have to say I always take TVR gauges and lights with a pinch of salt and only panic if I have more than one gauge/light telling me the same thing.

The oil was just on minimum, now corrected. I will keep a keen eye on the pressure, but it is as normal. Not planing on going anywhere soon, the weather is poo.

Best to keep at maximum and avoid it getting as low as minimum. I have been told that it isnt great for them.

Thanks, I usually do that, the Chatsworth run was the first long one in this Cerb, so still getting a feel for its oil consumption.
