repaired tuscan,do i, dont i?!

pistonheads virgin so please be gentle! i sold my chimaera last year and have been saving like 'billyo' for the next one, my dilemma is that i could afford a really nice chimaera or a damaged repaired tuscan (which i love the shape of)it's a case of heart and head? anyone with any tips or experience who could help

First (obvious) question...I assume you have had a test drive or 2 in the Tuscan??
If so and you prefer the Tuscan, could you still be happy in the chimp??
Advice I got was to get someone very experienced to give it a full inspection. Worked for me but I only bought the Tamora yesterday so fingers crossed !!

That'll be the answer then. Test drive a Tuscan or two. You may not like them (
yeah right) and decide to go for another chim, but if you do you can take it from there. As long as you buy one that has been properly repaired it will be no different to any other, except that you'll buy and sell it at a discount due to the damage record, so you'll probably lose the same in depreciation as a non damaged car.
Go for the Tuscan.

Should I buy a newer V8 Chim or should I buy an 03 sixspeed Tuscan S.
Now I have driven both the Chim is placid compared to the raw power of the Tuscan IMHO.
With a Chim I reckon I only need a spare 2 grand in the bank! the Tuscan on the other hand I would need a slush fund of perhaps £6K JUST in case the enviable happened.
Would I buy a Chim? Yes. Would I buy a repaired Tuscan? Personally NO!
Just my 2p's worth.

If you were buying an '03 Tuscan S with a 2 year warranty, why would you need 6k? The current engines aren't going bang like the old ones.
I also don't see why a car repaired by the factory is any more of a risk than a new one, body/chassis wise. A few of the cars have ended up being given updated chassis/suspension and so are arguably better than they were originally.

Do your self a quick search on this forum about Tuscan Chassis. As I recall there were some post's about the MK1 or Mk2 chassis. Depending in the age the car will have a MK1 chassis and there were some posts about very minor damage to the front end when the front wheel hit the curb and the chassis was slightly damaged. The outcome was that TVR do not make the bits for what was wrong and it would need a new chassis. The insurance company wrote the car off becasue of this.
Have a check, I'm sure the post was along these lines, maybe 9 months ago or so but have a look for some more research on Front End Damage on Tuscans. Depending on your budget you can get Tuscans for around 22-23K and a good red rose for around 25-26K.

Are they Not? that's not what I'm hearing!
They are I'm told, getting better!
Hence my £6K slush fund, if I decide to take the plunge.
My main point was that the 2 year TVR warranty should pick up anything engine related.
