I will be visiting Bucharest with the missus for a few days later this week, and wondered if anyone has any recommendations of things to do / places to eat when having the other half in tow. I have been to Bucharest a couple of times before, but on business and when single so the choice was rather loose, like some of the establishments frequented winkAm looking for something a bit more classy this time.

Am looking especially for one nice restaurant to be a treat for her birthday.

Any suggestions much appreciated. smile

Might be too late for you but try Caru Cu Bere, off Calea Victorei but I cant recall the name of the actual street it is on. Amazing venue and usually some traditional entertainment on. Its a bit different and your OH should enjoy it. Your Hotel will know it and be able to make a reservation for you, it is well known in the city.
Another option would be restaurants around Lake Herestrau, there are a selection of restaurants there and possible to sit outside when it is warm enough, which given the propensity of the locals to chainsmoke through their meals, could be a good option. Again, ask hotel for info.
I found a number of great restaurants tucked away in unlikely locations in side streets, so you shouldn't be short of somewhere to go.

Very highly recommended!

Also, the Howard Johnson has two very smart, very trendy eateries.

Bucharest is one of my favourite cities. Have no idea why as it is a bit of dump and dirty but there is a certain something about it.

Word of warning if you are going with the OT - wear dark glasses as you will most certainly be looking at "sights" you shouldn't be looking at in the company of a lady!!!

Either way...enjoy!

There's a Dracula themed restaurant near the city centre. Very cheesy, but good fun, and the food was superb!
