A while back we had all the world press creaming themselves over the Lexus problem with the Consumer Association test and the Lexus stability control failing to prevent a bit of a sideways moment when the driver attempted to defy the laws of physics and threw the vehicle at a bend at very high speed and then lifted right off the gas. Oh my how they howled despite no vehicle actually falling over or any vehicle actually hitting a kerb and possibly causing some danger.

How the self righteous cried as yet another problem with Toyota/Lexus and the tea cups were enlarged in order to allow even bigger storms to be whipped up.

Well it seems some more cars have failed the infamous elk test, rather in the manner of the original M-B A-class which did actually roll and fall over when subjected to the 50 mph lane swap.

Now to be fair the article is slanted more at vehicles which are sold not fitted with stability control, but the point is, what outcry and fury have we heard in the media about this? Almost nothing so far.

Despite the arguments at the time that this was not the case, how much of the Toyota/Lexus storm was merely down to American protectionism?
