Been looking at various cars for when I turn 21 and one of the cheapest quotes I've had is for a Noble M12. Other similar cars (Esprit, various TVRs, Exige etc) are roughly twice the cost to insure.

Just curious as to why this is, it's not like they're slow and full of airbags and kindness hehe

I'm guessing that no one really crashes Nobles (sp?), therefore low risk of having to make a payout.

I would guess that as they are rare in real terms, not many people have made claims on them, hence, computer says its a good risk.

It is a little odd isn't it, I guess it depends on not just the performance etc, but the nick-ability and the general risk grouping the car falls into. Sometimes it is very odd though, I insure my car (2006 Mustang) with all modifications declared for less than it cost me for a standard 2006 Focus ST!!

Hmmm... to be honest I was expecting a comedy quote due to the performance of them but I guess rarity does help keep the claims down.

Less than a Phaeton too but they're still about £20k. Guess I'll have to look into it come November and weigh up my options.

About £1100 with both parents as second and third drivers respectively and at an annual mileage of 6000. Fully comp

I was having a play around on confused.com earlier and it was coming out with some strange quotes too. An e60 M5 would cost me £27k a year to insure eek whereas an Aston Martin DBS would 'only' cost £7700 a year, work that one out!

You should phone to double check, there was a thread recently in the Noble forum with 40y.o's struggling to beat that.
Well it won't be for a while yet but my brother's friend who's 26 managed to get a quote for £500-£600. Might be that Admiral and Elephant have screwed up somewhere but the optimist in me says they haven't hehe

Really? Missed that... I know a 40-something who has just been quoted sub-£250 with full (protected) NCB as part of a 4-vehicle multicar Admiral policy... being, er, "senior" does have occasional advantages...

ist not a 3r its a gto 3 £500 fully comp but the points are clear now.

i think part of the reason they are relativly cheap to insure is that they have very easy to find and cheap components.

its effectivly the lovechild of a mondeo st200-220 and a tub of fibreglass.

I had a quote of £820 for a Cerbera 4.5 when I was 19, which wasn't bad as I was paying £1,600 for an Elise at the time.

I'm paying more than that on a hot hatch at 20 frown

Will everyone stop looking at them now, I want them to plummet in price so I can get my grubby hands on one wink
