Just want to know your thoughts really.

I've recently bought a scanguage 2 to show me the MPG and water temp and I've been getting around 19-24mpg around town and on A & B roads. Is that about right or do you my car is over fueling and needs to be checked?

Depends how you're driving it i suppose, I would say mine does around 25 but it could easily get a lot less with a heavy right foot!

scratchchin i worked mine out at 22mpg a while back but not really worried as its a fun car now smile the rs always fuel heavy its part of the reason they last so well (rich is safe) mine fuels off the scale at high rpm. Your mates vxr may read 30 mpg but the vx fuel computers are known to overread

Ok, I feel better now. Was just a little concerned that something might be up.

Not that worried about fuel costs cos the car is soooo good :-)

Thanks for the replies

I'll let you do the maths but we just had a run yesterday up round the hills and glens and I went through £50 of fuel (almost full tank) in pretty much 200 miles though I'd expect 300 to a completely full one on a motorway run.

I average about 25, pretty much unchanged over 7 years and 65,000 miles.

Neil - Wow! Did you forget to come out of second or something hehe

Would installing the bluefin remap improve the mpg?

i was looking into getting a dreamscience but they don't sell the handheld unit for the RS anymore. I imagine the bluefin and dreamscience being quite similar, would you say the £400 bluefin was worth it?

really? Im surprised they stopped doing it there are a couple for sale on the rs owners site at the mo the dreamscience can be used on 5 cars as long as the map is set back to standard on the last car its used on. Dont know ouch about bluefin tbh but its fixed unlike the dreamscience and i have heard of problems with the deact files and engine lights although this may have been sorted now smile

Yeah they have. I emailed them with an enquiry but they said it was discontinued but i could find some on ebay.

I've read pros and cons for both bluefin and dreamscience and both cost about £400 new.

I'm not bothered about the 5 lives of the dreamscience as i dont plan to use it on my next car.

Do you notice a big difference in performance with the re-map? I dont have and dont plan to modify the car in anyway. I want to keep it as standard apart from the re-map.

Noticed on the other thread yours has dont 70k miles, mine is still a whipper snapper at just 36k miles smile

I get 20-25mpg out of my Civic Type R. Which is way lower then everyone else pretends. 200bhp, 2.0 ltr lump, 25mpg. I know its a different car but its useful perspective.

Their is another option, sure I've mentioned it to you before. AE/Tuna. I can get you contact details if needs be. Its less than half the price of Bluefin and Dreamsc. but you don't get a handset, once its on, its on.

Remap brings the car alive driving but was a slippery slope for me hehe the Dreamscience is worth buying 2nd hand due to the lives & also means it can be sold on when you either get a live map or sell the car (as long as its flashed back to stock) the bluefin is worthless once used as it is locked to that car.
