150-160bhp is the norm on remap.

I had the 130 engine in an A3. The remap was like light and day. Well worth it.

I've got the same engine/box in a Octavia Estate. Responds very well to a £15 ebay chip - prolly got about 160+ brake now and monster torque. Proper wolf-in-sheeps-clothing jobby.

As quick as a standard vRS at one end of the scale, 60mpg easily at the other end.....in fact, 68mpg touring gently around France last year.

I've got the same engine in my Skoda Superb. Mine went from 130BHP to 173BHP. Better delivery of power - definately quicker driving

I am considering it as it is a local car, going cheap.

Don't they just overfuel the engine and, ultimately & eventually, wreck it?

Thats what I thought - you get what you pay for ....

I'm continually tempted by tuning mine, and housemate has just got a Fabia vRS - keep on suggesting to him that a remap would make him want to keep the car for longer .....

The remap, from what I hear and read - when done properly, make massive differences to the VW 1.9 diesels - 170 in the Fabia is, I think, the norm. I have read of up to 250, but that's not just a remap...

I can't comment on a chip/box thingy.

A few years ago I had a 130 TDI 2004 130 TDI - CVT multi-tronic

It had about 60k on the clock and the boys at Jabba-sport totally transformed the car.

Custom remap, just shy of 175bhp and that thing did not hang about.

The difference was amazing.

I sold it a year after and saw it going strong a year after that.

The Turbo Diesel power delivery was not to my liking, all the power right at the bottom then nothing more to come as the engine revved through the range.

It reminded me of my old Audi 80 TDI frown yeah I know that is what all TDIs are like (such is the nature of the beast) and tbh I only considered it as it is a known car, very local and very cheap with 70k on the clock

It would have been foolish for me to ignore it without trying it first

Overfuelling is the only way you get more power from a diesel. Same as a re-map but cruder. Got to be careful not to give it large throttle at low revs.

Yeah.
OK - I give you 5p, you give me the correct resistor (with the correct load rating, too) complete with OE male and female plugs to go straight into the loom.......No? I thought not.
