Due to an upcoming house purchase I am looking to sell my MTB, but I wouldnt want to do this if the bike is only worth a fraction of the purchase price.

Bike is a 2006/07 Mongoose Teocali Elite as below:

I am very much in two minds about letting it go so would be keen to hear thoughts on much it should go for to determine whether its worthwhile.

For reference the cheapest new model is £1150 http://www.sunsetmtb.co.uk/shop/index.php?product_...

But there is a 2007 model on ebay which hasnt sold for £650!!

Do MTB really loose half there value in three years?

Thanks All, Sam

I'm afraid so, a general rule I've been told is 50% minus 10% of that per year old. However, I don't always agree with that. Reckon 600 is not a bad price for a bike like yours as long as it has been looked after.

Just remember that mountain bikes do take a lot of punishment over their life so people are always wary of spending a lot of money on one second hand.

I know it's a bit of an effort and a faff but you would probably get more money if you stripped it down and sold the parts seperately. frames, forks, wheels and brakes ussually do quite well on ebay.
