fault code 146??? F-RAM failed

Hi started getting a fault code on starting the car- 146 f-ram failed.

any ideas?

The only think that actually is playing up with the car is that sometimes the dash ecu does not switch off when i turn the ignition off and take the key out- could the fault refer to this? and how do i solves this problem? I usually just take fuse 20 outa nd replace it. It is an intermittent thing at the mo

That fault code is usually the back-up battery for the dash (Ram) memory, a small circular thing,
had to change one recently, ensure the battery is fully charged first via the anderson connector showing at least 12.5v on the dash or trickling at 1 amp on the charger, if the dash still stays on when the ignition is switched off press the brake pedal!

The dash thing is completely unrelated to this fault code then? and is it a known thing? does every1 have press the brake pedal? I must say I never thought of that....

Can you clear the ram fault code? if so i would'nt worry about it, the back up ram battery cost me £1 from Waitrose, i fited it myself, a dealer would probaly charge one hours labour, ensure the main battery is fully charged first, mine dipped to 7.5v during the snow and still charged back up ok, the electrics do very odd things otherwise.

The 100 amp fuse i would uprate as soon as possible, mine blew in the fast lane on the motorway,was stranded, traffic police had to close the clockwise section of the M25 near Heathrow and kindly push the car from the 4th lane to the hard shoulder i always carry a spare fuse these days.

i can clear it, and the battery is always sitting nicely between 13 and 13.5v.
I am wanting to uprate to 100 or 125amp - is there a step by step guide anywhere?
and can any1 post any link to where i can buy this from?

The 100 amp fuse is located in the passenger footwell, pull back the carpet where it goes vertical and all will be revealed! Tvr Power have the fuse on their website part no:- M1980 about £3, have one posted out to you, Waitrose seem to be out of stock at the moment

There is a picture of the fuse on Graham's link in the other 'big probs with little sag' thread, takes about 10 mins to change, good luck
