hi guys.
after having a string of troublesome cars and now i know i have a baby on the way i need a new car.
i am currently waiting for a refund off my seat ibza fr i bought as it has blown its gearbox and turbo only 2 days after picking the car up from a main dealer.
i need a car that will give me ok'ish mpg 30mpg would be nice, can fit a baby seat in the back with ease and the boot will swallow up a moden day buggy.
the car needs to be solid and reliable really and i can handle slightly high servicing costs but i don't want the car to live in the garage.
i have a maximum budget of 6k but would be better off speading 3-4k as i can use the money in my bank account to buy it. would spead 6k if something great was availible for that.
also the car has to be fast and fun but not leathel as the missis will be driving it.
so far i have thought of
04 plate blob eye wrx. right at the top of my budget and doubt it will get the full 30 mpg but has plenty of space and is fun.

e36 m3 non evo. car i like the mosty and its fast loads of fun too. not sure i would get 30mpg on a run as its only a 5 speed. too worried about a evo and vanos issues. also would it have enough space with vadar seats?

fiat coupe 20vt. had one of these before and it gave me 30mpg with out a problem. id get a nice one for 3k but mine last one was a bit ropey and cost me 4k in a year in parts. not 100% sure it has enougfh space either.

e39 530 sport. loads of room might get 30mpg but not sure its as much fun.

thanks guys

also maybe a evo 5 has cropped into thought.
i am really leaning to the idea of the m3 as its solid and comfy and i can do drift days in it and trackdays yet fit the baby and the shopping in when needed.

Evo 5 will do 20mpg (if that) using Super. They're a toy now rather than a daily driver.

Whilst being a lovely car, the official mpg average is 21.5

Whilst not having driven either, the Type R does seem to offer a great all round package. EVO rate it very highly.

ok so i have kind of ruled out the evo and after test driving a zt190 today thats out. test drove a audi s4 which was fantastic but missis put a hault on that one as it was a bit out of budget lol.
i gather a classic subaru won't get much above 25mpg at best.
im really leaning towards a m3 and the missis likes them the most too.
the honda would be the safest bet just not sure it will be fun enough?
